Here’s some of what’s coming up at SPC!
Holy Week Services at SPC
This year we walk the end of the Lenten road to Easter together in this way:
Maundy Thursday – 6pm at SUC: we will share a meal and a time of worship together as did Jesus and his followers in an “Upper Room”.
Good Friday – 10am at Upper Sackville: we will share a traditional Good Friday service for all ages. A service of the passion within the warmth of wood stoves and the support of community.
Easter Sunday – 6am Sunrise Service at the Swan Pond: together we watch the dawn break after the long night. Weather permitting – alternate location is Sackville United. All are welcome to this brief time of worship followed by food and fellowship at SUC.
Easter Sunday – 9am (USUC) and 11am (SUC) Communion Services: Join us as we raise our voices and hearts in joyful celebration of a promise of a new way of life, living, loving and belonging!
The Prayer Net
Our Sunday School invites everyone to participate in our “Prayer Net” project. The Prayer Net is hung on the wall in the entrance way of our church. Colourful fish are available to you to hang on our net. On the back of the fish you are invited to write a short prayer, a hope you may have for our world or whatever may have some significance to you. As well, you may choose to hold a prayer, hope or dream for our world in your heart as you hang your fish on the net without necessarily expressing your thoughts in writing. We welcome you to this project. Your participation will do much to express support for the work of our Sunday School.
The last Sunday of the month at Sackville United, our worship will include a time for community conversation with a special guest. We will next celebrate this ministry on March 25, 2018. We welcome special guest Denise Richard, who will speak to us on mental health in our region and community.
Book of Job Study
Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:15am at SUC to chat about the book of Job during Lent. All are welcome, and a small number of copies of the study guide are available in the church office.
Spiritual Literacy Group
Using resources from Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat this small group (and another on Wednesday evenings) will explore spiritual attitudes and practices that can contribute to living lives of meaning: attention, gratitude, kindness, play and the list goes on. On each Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening we will explore the same theme – so, if you can’t make a Tuesday morning come on Wednesday evening or vice versa.
Consider taking part: Tuesdays at 10am or Wednesday at 7pm
