Pi Day Pie Auction: March 14th 2021

Our 2020 Pi Day celebration was the first COVID-19 cancellation a year ago – it seems fitting that with all that we’ve endured and learned that our first special event of 2021 be the Pi Day Celebration.

Pie Day seeks to highlight the public, intentional and explicit welcome and experience of community that we seek to offer and cultivate as an Affirming Ministry of the United Church. This year all proceeds from the Pi Day Pie Auction will go toward the Affirming Ministry efforts of Sackville United Church. You can participate in one or both ways!

First, you can participate by donating a pie to be auctioned – either a pie ready to be delivered on March 14th at the end of the auction or, one to be delivered at a later date as arranged by you and the successful bidder. To donate a pie email Jennie (suc@nb.aibn.com) and let her know what kind of pie you are donating and if you donation will be ready for March 14th or whether you’d like to arrange delivery with the successful bidder. If possible, send along a picture of the pie you are planning to make. As the donor of the pie(s), you will will receive a charitable receipt for the amount of the successful bid for your pie(s).

Second, you can participate by spreading the word about the pie auction and taking part in the bidding on March 14th! While we will miss the joy of sharing pie with each other and trying to out-bid each other in-person, let’s have what fun we can in whatever what when can – and remember, when life gives you lemons – make lemon pie! Visit the Facebook event and share it with your family and friends.

As the poster indicates, the Pi Day Pie Auction will take place on March 14th from 2PM to 3PM and you and your family friends may join in the fun by Zoom or via Facebook Live by clicking on the links. We will have people monitoring both platforms for the highest bids and no doubt there’ll be lots of confusion and laughter!

Delivery of pies will be limited to the Sackville, NB and Amherst, NS areas as a result of continuing COVID-19 restrictions.
